Venue: Holyrood tavern
“Bridget Christie: The Cheese Roll” was a lunchtime comedy show put on by lass from Gloucestershire. She performs three characters pieces before we get to the important part of the show (the cheese).
The first character is Dan Brown. Apparently he’s written the biggest selling book in the world, and now he is going to be the greatest stand-up ever. It was funny, but I probably missed a lot of references. The second character was an Irish car park attendant with poetic leanings. Some very bad poetry here. The third of the characters was Charles II, who told us why he was so fabulous and how style has slipped since his day.
After the characters, we had Bridget telling us of growing up in a family of 9, and how important the Cheese Roll is to Gloucestershire and the world.
Bridget is a personable and funny comedian and the small audience enjoyed her jokes and characters (funny they were all men, though). We all got a little present at the end as well, so all round a winner.
