Venue: The Stand
Another huge crowd in this tiny and hot basement to see Boothby and Nick dazzle us with their musicality (various stringed instruments) and Boothby’s wry digs at the selfish politics that are taking over the world. The first song was called hello and, with the aid of slides and a projector, amply displayed to us all that there are bastards in every country. We then got a song called Walking back to Leicester before the first chat from Boothby. He alternated chatting about his life and singing us songs for the next hour and a bit (until he was forced off the stage due to the next show needing it). We had stories about his trip to Brighton and the job he almost had with the BBC, plus some entertainment when he demonstrated how fabulous his guitar synthesiser was.
Boothby and Nick have been around for a long time (as individuals) and they are paired here in a very entertaining show which gets a bit political (not surprising considering the title), but manages to keep the musicality and amusement levels very high for the whole time. They are such seasoned performers that the audience was in the palm of their hands for the entire time. If you want to see this show, and I recommend you do, them book soon. If last nights crowd is anything to go by, it is selling out big time.
