Venue: Royal Overseas League (Princes St)
This is a delightful and relaxing way to start the day. The concert starts at 9.30 am, runs for an hour and then you are offered complimentary tea/coffee & fruity croissants. The venue also runs afternoon, evening and late night concerts if you just can’t get up that early in the morning.
Today we had Martin Cousins playing Bach and Brahms on the piano. Martin has performed in six of the last seven seasons of this morning music series, and he was in fine form today. The room itself is small and bare, apart from pictures of previous artists who have performed here. The acoustics were excellent for the occasion and the audience were entranced by the pianist skills on display.
So if you’re an early riser or just need somewhere to sit quietly and relax away from the mayhem of the festival at any time of the day, then this would be an excellent choice (and the croissants were yummy).
