For all who attended the Big Day Out this year or those who have ever seen or heard of The White Stripes should definitely put Die Roten Punkte on your comedy festival must see list. This German duo will appeal to anybody who has a musical bone in their body and a sense of humour. Set in the Old Council Chambers of Trades Hall the small semi- circular wooden benches certainly creates an interesting atmosphere for these German rockers. Their costuming and behaviour mimics The White Stripes perfectly. Clare Bartholomew takes on the role of Astrid, a pushy attention seeking rock star who thrashes out on her tiny drum kit. While the part of Otto is performed by Daniel Tobias, who trots around the stage with his bright red guitar, trying his utmost to avoid orders from Astrid.
Watch the jealousy, love and frustration rage between the two band members as they take you through tracks from their old and new albums- even managing to include a song they haven’t even written yet. You also get a very personal insight into Astrid and Otto’s relationship, being introduced as siblings but then finding out later it is not the case. Their very catchy lyrics will be implanted in your head and you will leave humming their melodies. You will not be disappointed by the energy between these stars as they take you through their quick paced downright hilarious German rock. If you are lucky you might even get a song dedicated to you on the glockenspiel!
