D-Cuppetry – Dance of the D-Cups

First Night Preview

Trades hall has a new entrance for this festival. The box office is now on the Lygon St side and you go through the bar to get to the venues. The place was packed for the first night of the festival (8 PM on Tuesday and you couldn’t see the bar, let alone get to it).

D-Cuppetry was running late, which isn’t a good sign for the second show on the first night! We got in about ten minutes after the official time and there was a large and boisterous audience (almost full house). The girls came on and sang their first song, about the joy of breasts, then disrobed to the shock of some audience members. The rest of the show there was a light nervous titter (sorry) traveling through the audience and occasionally what should have got applause was possibly too confronting for people to show their appreciation.

Basically, their poster pulls no punches and you will see two girls playing with their breasts for an hour, as well as singing some songs, making a lots of jokes and a little audience participation (you have been warned, girls!). This is a show that will attract huge crowds and may even move to a larger venue. I just worried that their bodies might not be able to take the stress of going through all that for three weeks. There is a lot of prop work for the tricks and I really loved how, when they were doing the ‘washing machine’ the girl behind me identified it as a Fisher & Paykel! Sometimes the audience was funnier that the girls but by the end it was a very loving crowd that filtered out the doors.

So, if you’re not offended by breasts or puns then you might want to book this one very soon. Go to the last show to see if they’ve sweated off a cup size or their boobs have broken from the strain.
