Back for 2011, 7pm every Sunday on SYN 90.7FM (Melbourne)

Andy Muirhead’s first full length Melbourne Comedy Festival show is right upstairs in the appropriately named Wee Room, and Andy begins his show focussing on the harsh reality he faced when he realised that he was going to be spending his three weeks of festival in the smallest room of the Melbourne Town Hall. Andy quickly moves onto pumping up the audience with a great comedic twist on a basic comedy convention. The standard and pace of this show, even though some moments are gentler than others, never drops off from this point onwards.

During the course of the performance Andy moves through a gamut of material including being described in one word in a review as “Perky” which is the signpost for the show. He also spends some time talking about his experiences which have resulted from working on TV, describes walking home drunk, presents a charmingly naïve take on his family dog, discusses the difficulties of suffering from dyslexia, and gives a surprisingly sensual description of almost losing his virginity.

Andy has a semi laid back style but delivers his material thick and fast without faltering. The narrative follows a conventional style, neatly tying in the loose ends at the conclusion.

Andy delivers the laughter throughout, which ranges from gentle recognition to full belly laughs. Andy is endearing and charming and gives this performance just the right energy. He is solid and consistent and this is a show you will just really enjoy.
