An interview with Yon
Definitely set to be one of the crowd pleasers this year, Tripod is set to take to the HiFi’s stage for their show, Self Saucing, during this years Melbourne International Comedy Festival. When asked what does your show have that nobody else’s does, Yon replied “Well, us in it. Any other claim I make I can’t be a hundred percent sure of.”
With their show’s title, Self Saucing, coming from a term they throw around frequently, meaning to be self-reliant and not needing anybody else, the Tripod boys are set to take you on a comedic journey oozing with musical talent. “It’s [Self Saucing] good. We just did a season of it in Adelaide, and we’re not sick of it yet. That’s a good sign.”
If seeing them in the flesh is not enough, you may now take home your very own piece of Tripod with their recently recorded DVD. “We shot one of our pub shows at the Northcote Social club. The idea was to really show what we do live. We also put heaps of extra stuff on it. There’s a doco on our 1998 Edinburgh experience, which for us is both nostalgic and excruciating to watch. I’m hoping, therefore, that it’s interesting for other people. We were very different then. Scod and Gatesy in particular were so excited to be there. We also put some of our old sketches that we used to screen at the Prince Pat – again pretty funny to look at the haircuts and that”
