An interview with Justin Haezlewood and Josh Earl of The Renegades of Folk
Can you tell me a bit about what to expect from you show?
Justin: The rehearsal of a lifetime. Expect the mesmerisingly haphazard dynamic of two young Australian emo men who have known each other for ten years and have grown to appreciate music and what it takes to captivate audiences and piss fart and revolutionise the concept of music in comedy. Justin in his underpants at some point. Josh doing the worm breakdance thing. Beach balls. Maybe some harmonies or choreography if we’re feeling cheeky.
Josh: I’m not emo, I just really like The Smiths!
What does your show have that nobody else’s in the comedy festival does?
Justin: A pseudo-erotic spoken word homage to basketball card collecting. Acoustic covers of electronic songs.
Josh: Someone who has written a downloadable ringtone
Does your show have a slogan/catch phrase that is being used to promote your show?
Justin: The show they wanted you to see.
Josh: The show their producer wants you to see
If you could have anybody guest star in your show it would be…
Justin: Beck. He would come on and play one song live and then go again and we wouldn’t introduce him or acknowledge him at all.
