An Interview with Dave Bloustien
Dave Bloustien is teaming up with Adam Vincent for their new Comedy Festival show “Terror-Fi”. “Adam Vincent and Dave Bloustien are Terror-Fi,” says Dave, “we are essentially a corporate executive terrorist training company, we seek to maximise your terrorist potential, so obviously everyone coming to the show is, in fact, a terrorist and that is the point of the seminar…it’s not really a show, it’s more of a workshop.”
Dave suggests that Terror-Fi may be particularly suitable to a motivated audience member. “Lazy , do nothing…type people don’t blow up buses quite frankly, you’ve gotta have attitude, you’ve gotta have vigour, ‘get-up-and-go-boom’,” he says, “as a result of course, attending the show is actually illegal…just so you know.”
“It’s a two person workshop,” says Dave, “we’ve been working together for quite some time. We’ve trained everyone, we’ve helped Che Guevera with his marketing…when we first met Bin Laden he was just Sam Laden, a copy room attendant, and we said ‘have you thought about the whole Islamic fundamentalism thing, it could work for you’, and he said ‘I’ll give it a try’ and it’s been successful ever since.”
Dave says that Terror-Fi is “not really stand up…we will be onstage together…there will be audience participation, we will be looking for volunteers, to help us with some role plays.” He adds the point though that “people have obviously have paid good money for the seminar, we’re not gonna harass them or make them feel unwelcome.”
Dave and Adam both have a strong skill base in Impro, skills which will come into play in this show. “We don’t know when we start the show what the particular political grievances of the audience are,” says Dave, “some stuff will be a little bit rehearsed, some bits will be changed depending on the needs of the particular clientele of that evening.”
