If you weren’t at the local on Monday the twenty first of November, then, goddam, you missed out! There was a fabulous line up as usual which included Judith Lucy, Gavin Baskerville and Xavier Michaledes. But the real sparkle in the evening came from the Richard McKenzie and Andy McClelland who MC’d the night together in a way which what I can only describe as unique and bizarre.

These boys joined forced in a pairing that zinged of the stage, each perfectly complementing the other and employing the differences in their personalities to amplify the comic disparity. The greatest magic though, came from the process of discovery that not only the audience went through but the unrehearsed Andy and Richard themselves. Even if they do this again (which I hope they will) on some level it will never quite be the same as it was that night and I suspect that the people who were there will remember this gig with great fondness and remember that they “were there that night…”
